Therapeutic Yoga for Low Back Care
6-week Series Starts April 5

In this 6-week series, we'll explore breathing practices and postures from the Viniyoga therapeutic tradition that reduce low back pain and promote low back health.
Specifically, you'll learn how to:
- Use adaptations of yoga postures to relieve low back pain
- Build core strength using directional flow of the breath
- Balance weaker areas of the back with those that are stronger
- Create a stronger and more flexible foundation for your spine
This style of yoga involves a gentle, breath-centered practice that emphasizes initiating movement with the breath, directing awareness to the functional effects of the postures, and repatterning neuromuscular habits to support optimal health.
In a clinical study sponsored by The National Institutes of Health, the Viniyoga approach demonstrated a substantial reduction in low back pain (study results were published in the Annals of Internal Medicine
This series is open to anyone, with or without prior yoga experience. Please inform the instructor in advance if you are unable to get up and down from the floor. If your low back pain is severe, you may receive more benefit by taking private sessions before joining a group class.
You will receive written materials to support your home practice.

This 6-week series will be held at Partners to Empowerment Wellness Center, 3681 S. Green Road, Ste 406 (Park II Building), Beachwood, OH 44122. Free parking is available in the front and back parking lots.

Although the Santosha site will continue to be maintained, the North Coast Wellness web site is more accessible from most workplace internet systems. The .cc extension for the current Santosha site was often blocked by internet filters at hospitals and corporations resulting in a lack of access to the site.
We hope that you will continue to visit both sites as they will contain different types of resource information (but both will feature scheduling information on workshops, group classes, and special events).
